- Cool Down at The Splash Park at Lewis & Clark Park
All kids love the Splash Park at Lewis & Clark Park (also known as the “Splash Pad”) – it’s a truly refreshing way to beat the heat during Montana’s warm months. The Splash Park typically operates from June through September, and features a pavilion with picnic tables and charcoal grills. It’s the perfect spot to take your kids for a few hours (or the whole day) when it’s hot out! Driving distance from Prescott Ranch: 6 minutes (2 miles)

- Read Books at the Belgrade Library
The Belgrade Library is now bigger and better – it reopened in April 2025 inside a building three times the size of the old one. The new library also features a dedicated children’s section, where you’ll find numerous programs for kids.
Options include a preschool exercise program, family storytime, open playtime, and so much more. Kids can even tour the local fire station once a month, thanks to the library’s partnership with the Central Valley Fire District!
Because the library is also located at Lewis and Clark Park, you can easily spend a whole day there – your kids can play on the playground, skate at the skate park, splash around at the splash park, play ball in the baseball field, and more. Driving distance from Prescott Ranch: 6 minutes (2 miles)
- Watch the Gallatin Speedway Races
Kids of all ages will enjoy the Gallatin Speedway, where amateur race car drivers compete for the fastest time around southwest Montana’s only WISSOTA and IMCA sanctioned racetrack. If the kids get hungry, there’s a full concession stand, along with a beer garden for adults. Join the fun every Friday night from May to September! - Take a Hike in the Bridger Mountains
In Belgrade, the mountains are practically in your backyard – so you might as well explore! Enjoy epic hiking trails just 30 minutes from Prescott Ranch. Here are some of our favorites:
- Middle Cottonwood Trail: This relatively flat trail is great for kids. The trail is shady and parallels a river the whole way, making it perfect for splashing around on hot days.
- North Cottonwood Trail: This out-and-back trail is a true choose your own adventure and affords fantastic views in the first couple miles. You can go as far in as you’d like, and it connects to many other trails in the Bridger Mountains.
- Sacagawea Peak: This is a tough trail, climbing almost 2,000 feet in elevation gain over 4.5 miles. Older kids who are more experienced hikers will love this one! Driving distance from Prescott Ranch: Middle Cottonwood – 27 minutes (14 miles), North Cottonwood – 19 minutes (13 miles), Sacagawea Peak – 1 hour (37.5 miles)

- Check Out the Belgrade Farmers’ Market
We hope you’re just as excited about the return of the Belgrade Farmers’ Market as we are! After being on hiatus for a couple of years, it returned in the summer of 2025. Head to the market Thursday evenings from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lewis and Clark Park for fresh fruit, veggies, baked goods, and summer activities for kids. - Attend Belgrade Summer Nights
Belgrade Summer Nights is fun for the whole family! With live music, food trucks, and art to shop for, there’s plenty keeping everyone entertained. Belgrade Summer Nights occurs on five Wednesday evenings over the course of the summer – don’t miss it! Driving distance from Prescott Ranch: 6 minutes (2 miles)

- Play at a Park
There’s no shortage of green spaces in Belgrade! Lewis and Clark Park is the largest, and features a skate park, playground, baseball field, splash park, and more. Corbett Park is located in the Prescott Ranch neighborhood, and has a large grassy field, playground, and numerous benches. Kathy Hollensteiner Park boasts a climbing boulder, playground, and picnic pavilion. River Rock Pond centers around a large body of water, and gives kids ample room to fish, kayak, and paddle board. You get the idea – there’s numerous spots to choose from. Driving distance from Prescott Ranch: Lewis & Clark Park – 6 minutes (2 miles), Corbett Park – 1 minute (0.2 miles), Kathy Hollensteiner Park – 4 minutes (1 mile), River Rock Pond – 10 minutes (4.5 miles)
- Play a Round at 406 Golf
406 Golf is an indoor golf simulator, and a great place to escape the heat or those afternoon summer storms. With over 200 golf courses to choose from, you can easily entertain the kids for a couple hours, if not the whole day. You don’t have to go hungry either – 406 Golf has partnered with Cosmic Pizza (next door) so you can grab a slice while you play!
If the weather’s nice, you can also head to Bridger Creek Golf Course or Cottonwood Hills Golf Club – both in nearby Bozeman – to play some rounds outdoors. Driving distance from Prescott Ranch: 6 minutes (2 miles)

- Swim at Erwin Bridge Fishing Access Site
This easily accessible location makes swimming at Erwin Bridge Fishing Access Site one of the best summer activities for kids in Belgrade, Montana. You don’t have to walk far from the parking lot to find excellent swimming spots. You can also take the kids fishing here, of course, or look for some really awesome rocks on the shore. There’s plenty of trees, making it easy to retreat to the shade on extra hot days. Driving distance from Prescott Ranch: 11 minutes (5.5 miles)
- Recreate at River Rock Pond
River Rock Pond is a great place to fish, kayak, or paddleboard. There are also several trails encircling the pond you can walk instead. Or you can simply relax on shore and watch the kids while they play! Driving distance from Prescott Ranch: 10 minutes (4.5 miles)

- Spire Climbing + Fitness: An indoor climbing center with easy routes for kids.
- JumpTime: Essentially a giant trampoline.
- Floating the Madison River: Grab some floaties and head on a relaxing float down the river!
- Bozeman Beach: Swim, kayak, paddleboard, kite surf, or relax on the shore.
- Bogert Swimming Pool: Nothing beats a day at the pool!
- Hyalite Reservoir: Everyone loves Hyalite, thanks to its beautiful scenery and numerous recreation possibilities! Kayak, float, and paddleboard on the reservoir, or hike, climb, and bike on the trails!
- Attend a Rodeo: Check out the Valley View Rodeo every Thursday evening or the Bozeman Stampede, which takes place one weekend in August.
- Big Sky Country State Fair: The fair takes over the fairgrounds for a few days every July,
